Caius playing outside. As you can see, Caius got his second haircut. The woman who cut his hair sat him on the chair and turned on her clippers and went to it. Once she started, it was too late to stop her, so he came out looking like one of those babies who is still trying to get a whole inch of hair grown out! I tried not to be too devastated, but it took a few days of double takes to get used to our little baby boy looking like such a big boy. His hair looks blonde too! Next time, we will be specific about what we want before we hand him over....

Today Caius had his 12 month well-baby check up. He got his little toe pricked to check for anemia and he also got 3 shots. It was hard to watch him cry out in pain and shock, but Neal encouraged me to be strong, so I only let my eyes water a little bit. He was very shy and even cried a little when the doctor got too close. Caius is 29 inches tall and in the 25th percentile for his height. He weighs 19.8 lbs. and is in the 5th percentile for his weight, and his head is 45.8 cm around which puts him in the 20th percentile. The doctor said he is a little small but obviously healthy. All of his measurements are proportional so we aren't worried about him being small. Caius is walking everywhere he goes. I have taken him outside to wander and he has overcome his dislike of grass! He loves to go outside and will walk right out the door with whoever is leaving! Caius is becoming more and more affectionate. He gives hugs and cuddles and gives "kissies" all the time! He plays with his little friend Cooper and is gentle for the most part. He always cocks his head to the side to look at him and then leans in to give him a little kiss. Neal and Jeff disapprove of this, saying, "That's not how boys make friends!" but I think it is adorable, and very telling of Cai's sweet, gentle personality. Hopefully he will be just as loving toward his little brother!
