Family History

Yesterday I registered and logged on to the new family search website. It was the first time I had ever really looked at my ancestry. I have always sort of avoided doing genealogy because I thought a lot had been done, and that anything I could do would be really hard! I was surprised and excited to find that there is plenty for me to do! As I sat and looked at my pedigree chart I felt as though the names I was looking at were very real people and that they were watching me and maybe rejoicing that I was looking at their name for the first time. Following are some pictures of my mom's side of the family. I am really very lucky to have such a beautiful collection of photos of my grandparents and great grandparents and so on.

My great grandma Rachel with her two daughters Leslie and Kitty in 1945, Seattle, Washington.
4 generations. 1941 Spokane, Washington. (The baby is actually my great aunt-my grandma's little sister.)

Another 4 generation shot, many years later. This is my grandma Leslie, my mom, me and Caius in May.

This is an old picture of me, but it's me! I am the product of all the names on my pedigree chart, and I am finally finding out what that really means.

It's fun! I'm the director for our stake for extractions and I love doing them. You definitely feel close to the people when you are doing it with the right attitude :)

Derek is the FHC Director of Eastern Iowa. Interesting since neither of us know anything. We registered a few months ago for the Family Search site. It's cool.
