Leland Brac Is Here!

Leland Brac (like "Brock") was born at 1:31 am January 17th, 2010! He weighs 8 pounds and 8 ounces and is 20 inches long!

He scored 10 out of 10 on both of his APGAR tests (evaluation of baby based on color, etc.) He came out nice and pink, and is pretty red even now! The lighting in all the pictures of him isn't that great, so we don't have many good pictures yet. I will post more soon though! He has a beautiful pointy little chin and luckily, he made it out without a cone head! We can tell already that he looks different than Caius.

Caius and Leland are EXACTLY 18 months apart. Leland was born on Cai's half birthday, and Neal's sister Dory was also born on January 17th.
Here we are about 20 minutes after Leland was born. He was pretty eager to begin breastfeeding, and seemed to know exactly what to do! He is already a little pro. Hopefully my milk comes in soon....
We spent the night at Bella Natal. I didn't sleep much because of my afterpains. Neal was so great to cuddle with Leland while I sat in the bath for a few hours, even though poor Neal was exhausted. We came home this morning around 10:00. It is great to be home!

We weren't able to get any pictures today of Caius with his new baby brother, but here is a picture from just the other day of Caius and Sophie cuddling in the armchair.
Our neighbors, Jeff and Deena listened to Cai's monitor through the night and then came over when he woke up and got him ready for church. We were here when he got home and he was a little wound up after being at nursery, and SO ready for a nap. But he was excited to see us and see our new baby. He couldn't focus too much on him because he was so crazy and tired but I suggested he give Leland a kiss and he was all too eager to do that. Since then, he has wanted to kiss him every time he sees him. After his nap, he went to our other neighbors, Bobbi and Brandon's house to play with their kids for a few hours while Neal and I rested with Leland. Our neighbors from upstairs brought us a wonderful dinner which we were very grateful for. We have the greatest neighbors and friends in the world! We really appreciate all the help we have received.

We have had a very relaxing day, taking little naps and taking turns admiring our sweet little baby. Neal is sitting with him right now watching a documentary on Mayan "Gliphs". :)
